I saw the show, and it was good - any bad PR for the WTB&TS is good - but here's one thing that irked me just a little...
Candice Conti had a TERRIBLE experience, but in time she found the courage to
A. Liberate herself from the WTB&TS
B. Find a competent lawyer and TELL him what happened to her
C. Go into court and TELL the jury what happened to her and WIN her case
D. Go to the producers of Nightline and TELL her story...
But then, in front of the cameras, she says that telling what happened to her would "give (her) nightmares."
Candi, baby, the NIGHTMARE happened when you were nine! How could telling your story ONE MORE TIME be unbearable?
Overall, though, I say "Job well done!"

Jw are moving from Door to Door realizing it is ineffective
by thedepressedsoul injw have announced that they will no longer be doing door to door as they have realized that the door to door salesman is on a decline.. now they will be putting all of their effort into cold calling via a telephone as they feel this will be more effective means to reach people.
jw call centers will be set up at local kingdom halls so that all jw will now reach out to people via a hard copy of the yellow pages and white pages.
they have seen the success of telemarketers and can't wait to try out this new and revolutionary way to reach people via a telephone.

Look at how urgent ant Watchtower news it -- it runs when the largest audience segment is hanging out at the bar wondering if they can score before closing time -- but only after the newest cat-litter ad is presented for your edification. Nobody gives half a crap about the Watchtower, and you shouldn't either! Put down you cardboard lances and cease tilting at watchtowers!

received revealing "witness" in parking lot
by Magnum ina few weeks ago i was working out of my home state and was in a grocery store parking lot when i received my first jw witness since leaving jwdom.
a youngish-looking lady was sitting in an suv parked next to my car and i was about to get in my car to leave.
she opened the door and asked whether she could give me something to read (had a tract in her hand)..

21 Years as an Elder, 5 as an MS, I will never be that guy again.
by James Jack ini was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.
of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.
i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

So my dad comes from vacation and ???!!!
by Kool Jo inhello folks.....so in an earlier thread i started, you'd realize that my father and i are quite close, we talk about almost everything/anything.. he traveled outside the country (he's semi-retired), enjoying the fruitage of his hard labor during his younger years.
so he recently returned home after he and mum went away to catchup with some old friends in another country.. upon his returning home, and subsequently to the meetings, he was told that a decision was made to strip him of his "field overseer" role, but will still continue to be an elder.. the reason...he goes away for too long too often...you can't be away from your congregation for three months out of the year!!!???
has anyone else had this experience before?

My offense was SO severe there wasn't time to go to the back room. My PO at the time (I was an MS and a Pioneer) told me my sideburns were 1/8 of an inch too long. He was a real manipulative PRICK and loved playing the brothers and sisters against each other. I saw through his evil game and refused to join in. Today Mike Smilnak has his reward - he's dead, with no hope of the resurrection that he hawked as a promise so he could gain more victims. Anyone else who knew Mike can tell of other ways that he showed himself to be a SCHMUCK - I could tell at least a half-dozen stories on him.
